Through a small window

in a hedge of tall Ash trees,
a moth flies to the moon;

with a hint of autumn air,
I hear the sea.

~ The Sea ~

I sit and watch your power, your beauty,
your wildness, your might.
You have strength, independence, freedom.
No one tames you, manipulates you;
your will is your own.

You work with the wind and the moon,
You love the way they make you move.

Watching you lifts me high,
makes me sing;
and we have a common tide
you and I,
expanding and contracting,
inhaling and exhaling;
the very motion of
life.

~ The Storm ~

A thunderstorm blows itself
into our sky;
all flashy, and showy and loud,
 backed by wild wind and rain torrents.

We turn out all lights
and turn off all noise,
and stand at the window
to watch its performance.

I give a startled 'oh'
as I get blinded by each flash,
but thrill at the unfettered
power of this Full Moon storm.

the birds cheer in a chorus

which stretch upward into a creamy
blue sky;

and crows gather in a story.
